We Get Weapons From SSS Agents, Share Ransom Payments – Bandits
- The report surfaced amidst widespread claims that Nigerian security forces are leveraging on Nigerians plight for pecuniary gains
Armed bandits wreaking havoc in different parts of Nigeria say they work in cahoots with the State Security Service to carry out their heinous and nefarious activities.
The bandits said the state agents take part in activities that amount to undermining of constituted authority and destabilisation of the country which they are expected to protect and also snuff out all actions that threaten its peaceful existence.
They revealed that the SSS operatives have been providing them with arms and ammunition and often share the proceeds of crime at gunpoint.
The rampaging non-state actors said they “borrow weapons” from the state agents and then go to work to share ransom payments received, Deutsche Welle quoted the criminals to have said in a recent report.
The bandits also disclosed that some police officers have been a part of the grand conspiracy that has spurred deepening security crisis across Nigeria.
President Muhammadu Buhari has at best been accused of being lethargic and at worst lacklustre when it comes to addressing the nagging security challenge.
The secret police is yet to issue a statement regarding the bandits’ accusations and whether it was privy to a possible alliance between its officers and armed bandits unleashing terror across the country.

The report surfaced amidst widespread claims that Nigerian security forces are lining their pockets with the unsettling security situation, hence the festering of the cankerous sore that’s insecurity and the attendant lack of will to address the perennial challenges.
The Buhari administration denied such claims, but several indications have emerged repeatedly since then that appeared to show that the government was particularly uninterested in tackling raging crisis.
Last week, Buhari warned Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue, where armed militia elements have killed thousands and razed hundreds of villages since Buhari assumed power in 2015, to either accept the controversial ruga policy or continue to endure violence with his people.
Last month, Buhari also rally round Isa Pantami, one of his cabinet ministers who was recently exposed as a core jihadist and sympathiser of Osama Bin Laden, Al-Qaeda and other groups and persons long associated with terrorism.
