EKO HOT BLOG reports that Seun Kuti, the son of the renowned Nigerian singer and social activist Fela Kuti, has shared his thoughts on the just-concluded 2023 presidential election in Nigeria.
In a post on Instagram, Kuti criticized Nigerians for allowing public figures to influence their choices and using their resources to become citizens of other countries.
Kuti, who is known for speaking his mind without concern for what others may think of him, also addressed his recent exchange with Peter Okoye of the PSquare group over concerns about who should become president.
In his Instagram post, Kuti said that Nigerians wanted the “lesser of three evils, but you got the best.” He further added, “When you realize that all your actors, musicians, influencers, comedians, politicians, and business leaders are using your resources and support to become British and American citizens so their children don’t exist with yours, maybe you will have sense enough to stop allowing them to direct your life!”
Kuti’s comments shed light on the issue of Nigerians in positions of power using their resources to secure better lives for themselves and their families, while neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens. This practice has been a point of contention in Nigerian politics for many years, and Kuti’s words highlight the need for citizens to hold their leaders accountable.
Kuti’s post also addressed the importance of being informed and involved in the political process. He urged Nigerians to take action and get involved in the work that needs to be done to make the country a better place for all its citizens.
As Kuti concluded his post, he called on his followers to support the work of the Movement of the People’s Centre (MOP Centre), an organization dedicated to promoting democracy, justice, and the rule of law in Nigeria. “Let’s know @mopcentre those ready for the work. It starts today!!” Kuti wrote.
Seun Kuti’s comments on the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria highlight the need for citizens to be informed, involved, and hold their leaders accountable.
His call for action and support for organizations like the MOP Centre emphasizes the importance of working towards a better future for all Nigerians.
