Ogun State Governernment has begun the construction of mass housing estates in Abeokuta and other parts of the State to provide decent houses to the people at affordable prices.
The State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, speaking at the Thanksgiving and Praise Worship in honour of his Victory at the Governorship ElectionTribunal, held at June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, the Governor noted that housing project was embarked upon to address the housing deficit in the state.
The Governor who described shelter as one of the basic needs of Man, said the construction of the houses, which would be sold to the people at affordable prices, would employ the services of artisans like bricklayers, Carpenters, painters and other auxillary workers.
” I have told our people that the houses should not be more N4m each. This is to enable people have access to quality houses”, he said.
Prince Abiodun who used the occasion to intimate the people of his stewardship in the last 100 days, said apart from reconstituting the State Security Trust Fund and handing over its management to the right combination of people, 100 patrol vans, 200 motorbikes have been purchased with an Helicopter from the Federal government to deal with security challenges in the State.
The Governor disclosed further that agreement for the construction of Ijebu-Ode-Epe road would soon be signed, while the State and Lagos state government have jointly sought for the handing over of the Abeokuta-Ifo-Ota and Sagamu- Ikorodu from the Federal government for reconstruction, adding that this would boost business activities in the axis.
He said his administration has commenced the rehabilitation of rural and township roads, rehabilitation of 236 Primary schools and Health Centres to provide quality education and healthcare services to the people, pledging that all communities in the State would feel the impact of his administration.
Prince Abiodun who reiterated that his administration would not involve in needless vendatta as projects that have direct impact on the socio-economic well-being of the people would be completed, adding that some of the Model schools inherited from the previous administration would be put to other use, just as the one located at Kobape road, has been turned into a Technological hub to train the youths on the use of Information Technology.
“We have introduced e-learning by enumerating our students and teachers. Each student will have a Pin number, a device for us to know when they are in or not in school. It will allow us to train our teachers. We will have WiFi in our markets and educational institutions for easy connectivity”, he noted.
He said his administration has so far allocated one hectare of land for 2000 Participants of the Anchor Borrowers’Programme to encourage agro-trepreneur especially among youths in the State, noting that a job portal opened to register unemployed youths has recorded more than 110,000 people in less than two months after it was launched.
On tertiary health institutions, he said on the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Sagamu, the Governor said he has ordered the recruitment of more health personnels, while the State Hospital, Ilaro, now has modern Theatre for operation, modern laboratory, Marternity Ward and the general rehabilitation of structures in the Hospital.
He urged people to always thank God for His favours, adding that his government which is predicated on good governance, would ensure Justice for all irrespective of religious, ethnic, political or social background.
In his opening remark, the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Alhaji Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, deescribed the pre-election period as turbulent, appreciating God for the victory at the poll and at the Governorship ElectionTribunal.
He described the Governor as a man chosen by God at this time to lead a State populated by enlightened people, noting that the journey of providing a focused and qualitative leadership has started in ernest, calling on the people to continue to support the governernment in their prayers to take the State to greater height.
