- We Must refrain from engaging in activities that could aggravate our current precarious situation – Ogunsanwo
His royal majesty Oba Olufolarin Ogunsanwo, the Alara of Ilara kingdom, has admonished Nigerians to eschew activities capable of causing disunity and ethnoreligious crisis in the country.
Ọba Ogunsanwo in his special message to Muslims, who began their Ramadan fast on Tuesday, implored Muslim faithfuls to make the best out of the holy month.
He also charged Nigerians to recommit themselves to promoting unity and peace in the country, noting that that’s what Nigeria needs to enable it cross the many hurdles in its path and overcome the challenges that bedevil it.
Oba Ogunsanwo said Ramadan should not only be seen as period of abstinence from food, drink, and mundane pleasures, but as a time to rededicate to higher values and virtues of compassion and benevolence to others, regardless of religious and ethnic affiliations.
“I would like to express special greetings to our Muslim brothers and sisters who have begun the Ramadan fast,” Oba Ogunsanwo said in a statement.
“This is not merely a season of abstinence from food, drink, and worldly pleasures. It is a time to further inculcate and exemplify the profound teachings of the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) and also imbibe the lessons of love and kindness that are enshrined in the Quran.
“In particular, for our nation, we must recommit ourselves now and in the future to the advancement of the unity, brotherhood, and peace in Nigeria.”
