We Remain Committed To Delivering Qualitative Education – LASG

Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to invest hugely in its education system to prepare the students for global competitiveness.

Speaking at the 2020 Education Public-Private Partnership Dialogue, the event which was themed, ‘Creating A Better Future Through Education’ Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his government would partner with the private stakeholders in education sector to deliver qualitative education in the state.

He said that the first “E” in the T.H.E.M.E.S pillars of governance agenda represents the administration’s commitment to reform the education sector for an overall objective of a greater Lagos.

He stressed that the demonstration of this commitment in a number of ways include increasing the budgetary allocation to education from the paltry N65 billion to N135 billion to drive a policy that will achieve performance.

“The Eko-Excel initiative – Excellence in Child Education and Learning which trains and support public school teachers and administrators to incorporate technology into teaching across all Local Governments and LCDAs’, Schools rehabilitation and redevelopment,’’ he said.

Sanwo-Olu revealed that so far, 60,000 chairs and table units had been distributed to some schools and promised that a hundred thousand unit is targeted before the year ends.

To better encourage Teachers in Public Schools, Sanwo-Olu promised that the designs for teacher’s quarters within the School premises would soon commence, adding that his administration would give 20 cars to best performing teachers across the 20 Local governments in the state.

While presenting the state government’s Education Transformation Plan (BOSETP), the state’s Commissioner for Education, Mrs. Folasade Adefisayo, revealed that the ministry had begun the construction and upgrade of public schools and in view the commissioning of a new school.

“Most importantly, the corps shall not be allowed for political purposes; it has no business at political rallies just as the police must continue to discharge its obligations and responsibilities to the people.”
