The House of Representatives on Friday said it remains on track to pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) by April 2021 despite a scuffle that ensued on the floor of the House during a public hearing on the bill.
It noted that the legislation will reinvigorate the petroleum industry and promote economic growth in the host communities and the nation at large.
The green chamber also took a swipe at “certain members” of the host communities who were engaged in the brawl, saying the House will not hesitate to ensure the arrest and prosecution of any offender who perpetrates a similar occurrence in the future.
