We Start Evacuating Blockages In Drainages Now To Avert Flood, Says Eti Osa LG
Executive Chairman of Eti Osa Local Government, Hon. Saheed Adesegun Bankole has commenced the evacuation of blockages in drainage systems across his constituency.
The chairman said while addressing the journalists that it would be better to evacuate whatever that may want to cause blockages of drainages now to avert unnecessary flood and other atrocious mayhem that may be caused by rainfall.
He said the negative experienced which Eti Osa went through last year would not repeat itself this year, adding that all the necessary equipment to make the drainages and gutters cleared off stoppages have been on the ground.
“All streets and roads must be water-free this year that is the reason we started working on time before the heavy rain started,” he said.
The leader of the council, Hon. Muftau Ogunderu said the comfort of Eti Osa people is the first priority before any other things, adding that that has been the reason behind the early evacuation of drainages and gutter.
He said every area would be touched, saying that the process had started from Osapa London bridge, along Gbara-Mayegun’s drainages getting to Igbo Efon to Chevron, Ikota town, back to Agungi to Ajiran before going back to Ikate, Elf and other areas in Lekki phase 1 and 2.
“We are grateful to all our people for the understanding they have on how the government is run,” he said.
