“Why has coronavirus done this to us?”, has been the question the Lagos Muslims, especially the hijab sisters, asking one another since yesterday, 13 May 2020.
The Muslim Lagosians who have been known as participants in the ten-night prayers in every last ten days in the month of Ramadan at Marina car park, Lagos, have cried out that the social distancing policy has restrained them off the opportunity this year.
Our reporter who surveyed around Lagos Island and its environment yesterday discovered that the Muslims were not happy at the coronavirus pandemic as it has caused the unredeemable situation.
This program is always held in every nook and cranny of Lagos State but the one of Marina car park is famous as it involves prominent societies like NASFAT, NADWAT and JEJEWIYY and people always come from far away to attend.
A resident of Apongbon, Lagos, Alhaja Basirat Kareem said observing the last ten nights of the month of Ramadan has been part of her. She added that she has been attending the prayers for the past 12 years.
“Coronavirus is a bad disease. I pray that may Almighty Allah cast it out before the day of Eid,” she said.

Another resident from Ijora Olopa, Zainab Aromire said the stay-at-home order has not really affected her as the last ten nights she has been deprived of.
“Well, Islam allows females to pray at home which what I have been doing but I will really miss the last-ten-night programs,” she said.
