WEEKLY GIST WITH ANNIE

HEY!

Detty December came and went swiftly. You spent your bonus and even borrowed money beacuse December has to be detty. Now you are back at your job that totally sucks, everyone is sending you emails that they hope meets you well but is laden with responsibilities. This week has been totally hellish; the 100th time your boss is having you repeat the same task, the office ”beggi beggi” took your plantain chips again and you’re wondering when you would finally stand up to him. Through all these drama, you barely had time to check your social media.

Not to worry, while you were busy with work, your favorite ”aproko” was running around gathering gist for you.

This week was beserk worldwide. From Nigeria to US to UK.

There was a fatal clash between Yoruba Nation Agitators and the police in Lagos on Monday during a supposed peaceful rally. A man was reported dead while others had varying degrees of Injuries. The Spokesperson of Oodua People’s congress denied the group’s involvement in the rally/riot.

The popular saying ”The North Remembers” might be true as a mamooth crowd welcomed Tinubu In Atiku’s Home State, Adamawa. It was a week of wins for Tinubu as PDP’s Suit seeking his disqualification was dismissed by a federal high court.

The entertainment industry was all glitz and glamour as stars attended the 80th Golden Globes Award Ceremony on Tuesday. India made history as ”Naatu Naatu” won Original Song of the year. Other notable winners of the night include ”House of the dragon” for TV Drama series of the year, Angela Bassett for best supporting actress in a motion picture for her role in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Zendaya for best actress ina Drama TV series for her role in euphoria. Eddie Murphy joked about Will Smith’s Oscar saga while giving his acceptance speech for the Cecil’s B. Demille Lifetime Achievement award.

Yes, your job might suck but I strongly suggest you remain where you are because the economy has taken a turn for the worst. Goldman Sachs and Coinbase announced massive job cuts in the face of falling profits  while Elon Musk broke World Record for largest loss of personal fortune. Talk about a stroke of bad luck.

The British Monarchy took a big hit this week as the King’s second son and the Duke of Sussex released his highly anticipated memoir titled ”Spare”, where he detailed the dynamics of his upbringing and relationship with other royals. You should get a copy. He really spilled the tea. Apparently, Megan isn’t the gold digger the British media labelled her as. THERE WAS NO GOLD TO DIG.

There was the usual crack rant from Bobrisky and Nkechi Blessing gave us an unwarranted look into her private life by revealing a chat betwwen she and her boyfriend where he lovingly called her a cow.

So, there you go. The gist of the week. Now you can prepare for the new week. See You Next Weekend. Until then, I remain your favorite Aproko,Annie.
