Recall that the President Election Petition Tribunal had on Wednesday evening dismissed all three petitions challenging Tinubu’s victory in the February 25 election.
A five-man panel of the tribunal unanimously ruled that the Allied People’s Movement (APM), the Labour Party (LP), and the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and their candidates failed to prove their claims that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was not validly elected.
The justices, therefore, declared the president as the winner of contest.
Reacting to the verdict, Sanwo-Olu said it was a well-deserved victory for Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos.
He urged Nigerians across party lines to team up with the president “to deliver the real dividends of democracy.”
“I hereby congratulate the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Tinubu on his well deserved victory at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court,” the statement reads.
“I also congratulate the leadership and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, and all Nigerians at home and in the Diaspora on this very landmark judicial victory.
“I enjoin Nigerians across party lines to team up with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deliver the real dividends of democracy to Nigerians through the Renewed Hope agenda of his administration.
