The Nigerian Air Force, (NAF), on Thursday, assured Oyo State government of its commitment to provision of adequate security across the state.
The Air Commanding Officer on Logistics, Ikeja, Lagos, Air Vice-Marshal Makinde Olanipekun, gave the assurance when he led a delegation of officers on a courtesy visit to Gov. Seyi Makinde in Ibadan.
He said that this had become necessary, considering the security challenges currently confronting the state.
Olanipekun said that the participation of NAF personnel in the state security outfit, known as “Operation Burst” would continue.
The naval chief pledged that NAF personnel would continue thriving in order to justify the confidence people reposed in them, through optimal performance of their constitutional duties.

He expressed appreciation to the governor, on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao, for his support to the military and other security agencies operating in the state.
In his response, Makinde said that his administration would improve on provision of social services and expand infrastructure at Ibadan airport to enhance economic growth of the state.
He also said that his government would work to turn the airport to the hub of regional airport transportation.
“We believe that Ibadan airport should serve as an alternative to the one in Lagos.
“So, we have a project that we are incubating right now. We are trying to expand the runway at the airport so that bigger aircrafts can land there.
“We are trying, within the shortest possible time, to see if we can have a connection between Ibadan and Port Harcourt.
“We are talking to Air Peace and they should be starting flight operations from Ibadan to Abuja in the next two weeks, while Ibadan to Port Harcourt should also commence once we have finalised discussion with them.
“With all these, the socio-economic activities in the state will improve,” he said.
The governor congratulated the Chief of Air Staff on his elevation and expressed gratitude to NAF for pledging its contributions to the security architecture of the state.
