What Causes Increase In The Price Of Goods, Buyers Lament
Lagosians have cried out over the sudden increase in the price of goods in the market, especially the attire (Jallabia) at the Hausa market in the Markaz area, Agege.
Some retailers left Lagos Central Mosque, Saudi Market in Oluwole, for Agege to check out for cheaper Muslim attire (Jallabia) as the attire is always brought to Oluwole from Agege.
The Hausa market in Markaz which is known to people as a place for numerous kinds of attire has made an increase in the price of the attire.
The secondhand products are the ones selling most at this market as they are normally brought directly from the United Arab Emirates into the market.
A retailer who visited the market, Miss Fatimah Jimoh, told our reporter that she could not unravel the problems behind the increase in price. She said a white Jallabia was sold last week at the rate of N1,500.00, N2000.00 as size determined the price then. Colors were sold at N2000.00, N2,500.00.

She added that each of the aforementioned prices has been added up with N1,500.00 today, Sunday, 17 May 2020.
“Is the increase caused by COVID-19 or month of Ramadan, I don’t know,” she said.
