What Graeme Souness Has To Say On Chelsea, Man United Transfer Target
-
Graeme Souness could sure end up as quite the controversial if not the most hated pundit in the premier league when he decides to hang his suits, owing to his criticisms of players.
-
The former Liverpool player and one time manager has hit on England international, Declan Rice and from his statement, might force clubs who are interested in a move for the player to be more critical of him.
-
According to Souness, the West Ham midfielder is not a world class player as the media is painting him out to be.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice has been criticized by former Liverpool player and manager, Graeme Souness, for not yet being a world-class player, despite his consistent performances for club and country.
Rice, 24, has been a mainstay for West Ham and has made over 200 appearances for the club. He has also played 40 games for England, establishing himself as a key player for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Rice has attracted interest from some of the top Premier League sides, including Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United. However, Souness believes that the midfielder needs to do more to justify those links and challenge himself to improve.
According to reports, West Ham is demanding at least £100m for the midfielder, which would make him the most expensive English player in history. Souness has suggested that Rice needs to improve in certain areas of his game, including scoring more goals. Rice has only managed to score twice in the Premier League this season in 26 games, which Souness believes is not enough.
“Rice still has much to prove in certain areas of his game to be regarded as a really top-class central midfield player,” Souness told the Daily Mail. “But he needs to aim for the stars. This is just my opinion. But I think he should ask himself, ‘How do I become a truly world-class player?'”
Souness’ comments come amid speculation about Rice’s future at West Ham. The midfielder is under contract at the club until 2024, but there are concerns that he may be tempted to leave if a top Premier League side comes calling. West Ham is keen to keep hold of Rice and has made it clear that he is not for sale.
Rice has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season and has been a key figure in West Ham’s push for European football.
The midfielder has impressed with his defensive work, his ability to win the ball back, and his composure on the ball. He has also shown that he is capable of playing in a variety of positions, including as a centre-back or a holding midfielder.
