What Lagos Motorists Should Know As Repairs Of Third Mainland Bridge, Adekunle Ramps Kick Off
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Government has released updates on the repair of the ramps inward Adekunle from Oworonshoki and inward Adekunle from Lagos Island, Lagos.
The state government also gave an update on the ongoing rehabilitation of some sections of the busy Third Mainland Bridge.
Repair works on both major roads started on Monday.
In an interview with TVC on Monday, the Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, assured motorists of adequate management of the diversion as over 100 Traffic Management Officers had been deployed to the alternative routes and diversion points.
He noted that the Third Mainland Bridge is not entirely closed as it is opened to motorists heading directly to the Victoria Island axis and from the Island towards Oworonshoki, adding that the transportation ministry will closely monitor the diversion efforts.
The transportation commissioner also assured that the Ministry of Transportation is working with security agencies to provide safety on all the diversion routes and minimise inconvenience for motorists.
Osiyemi further explained that the repairs of the Adekunle Ramp will span about five weeks, adding that palliative work which has been done on some sections of the bridge will be continued ahead of the major repairs of the entire bridge in January, 2024.
He urged citizens to obey the law enforcement Officers on duty, assuring that the Ministry is very mindful of providing motorable alternate routes and will correct and adjust palliative works as required.
In a related development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, who was also on Arise TV on Monday allayed the fears of motorists on the diversion, saying all traffic management plans have been activated to ensure hitch-free traffic during the repair works.
He commended the Federal Government for the repairs being carried out on the bridges for the safety of lives and property.
