What Nigerians Should Do Following Attacks On Igbos -- Angela Okorie
  • Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie calls on Nigerians to fall back together in harmony post election violence in parts of the country.

  • The 2023 elections was an event that was overshadowed by inciting statements and ethnic controversies that promoted violence.

  • However Okorie has called the rifts created to be closed as she made an Instagram Live session to her fans.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nollywood actress, Angela Okorie, has called on Nigerians to come together and put aside their differences following the conclusion of the country’s recent elections. The actress made the appeal during an interactive session on Instagram Live.

The just-concluded election in Nigeria has caused a rift among the citizens of the country, with the alleged profiling of Igbos in Lagos State during the gubernatorial elections, leading to a sense of foreboding and mistrust among the Igbo and Yoruba communities in Lagos State.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

Some electorates claimed that they were not allowed to vote because they looked like Igbos, while there have also been reports of attacks on Igbo-owned businesses.

Addressing the situation during the Instagram Live session, Okorie stressed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) should be held accountable for the general election, which was marred by thuggery, violence, and vote buying. She called on Nigerians to unite and heal despite the political and ethnic differences that played out during the elections.

Okorie also turned down an invitation by some of her northern fans who had invited her to their region, saying it was time for the country to reunite, heal and move forward. The actress has been an advocate for peace and unity in Nigeria, and she has always called for an end to violence and discrimination in the country.

The call for unity comes as Nigeria continues to grapple with insecurity and violence, particularly in the northern part of the country. The government has been accused of not doing enough to protect its citizens, with many calling for a more proactive approach to combating the country’s security challenges.
