EKO HOT BLOG reports that ahead of Liverpool’s match against Chelsea, Jurgen Klopp, the club’s manager, has stated that he has not been sacked due to his past achievements with the club, not their current form this season.
Jurgen Klopp made the comment in response to the sackings of Graham Potter and Brendan Rodgers at Chelsea and Leicester, respectively, on Sunday.
Liverpool, who currently sit eighth on the Premier League table, have struggled this season, losing eight away fixtures already. However, Klopp believes that his past successes with the club have saved him from being sacked, despite their current form.
“I’m aware of the fact I’m sitting here because of the past, not because of what we did this season,” Klopp said. “If this was my first season, that would be slightly different. We have smart owners who know about the situation, but that doesn’t mean anything else.”
Liverpool suffered a 4-1 defeat to Manchester City in their previous match, highlighting their struggles this season. However, Klopp remains confident that his team can turn things around and finish the season on a high note.
The match against Chelsea on Tuesday evening will be a crucial one for Liverpool, who will be hoping to secure a win and move up the table. Klopp and his team will need to be at their best to overcome a strong Chelsea side and secure the much-needed victory.
