Who Is Jose Paseiro?

 

  • Paseiro, the man leading Nigeria to AFCON 2022

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Nigeria Football Federation NFF after a few days of playing the hide and seek game has finally announced the appointment of Jose Paseiro on Wednesday 29th of December 2021.

Jose Vitor dos Santos Paseiro, a Portuguese pprofessional player (striker) turned coach.

He began his coaching career as a player manager in his home country, Portugal. He worked for about eight years in the third and fourth tiers of the Portuguese league.

In 1999, the Coruche, Santarém District born manager, after being appointed manager of C.D. Nacional, helped promote the Club to the Primeira Liga in three seasons.

In 2002–03, he led the team to a final 11th position.

Peseiro played as a professional, at Sport Lisboa e Cartaxo in 1979. In that competition, he represented Amora FC, Clube Oriental de Lisboa, GD Samora Correia and S.C.U. Torreense, for a total of five seasons.

34-year-old Peseiro retired at the end of the 1993–94 season in the fourth division, with local club União de Santarém.

His last job was as the head coach of Venezuela between 4th February 2021 and 20th August 2021.

While at Nacional, Paseiro won the Segunda Divisão: 1999–00, he also won the AF Madeira Cup: 2001–02

With Sporting CP, he was UEFA Cup runner-up: 2004–05 and at Braga, Taça da Liga: 2012–13

He also lifted the Egyptian Premier League with Al Ahly in the 2015-16 season

Jose Paseiro will no doubt be leading the Nigerian National team,, the Super Eagles to the 33rd edition of the African Cup of Nations in Cameroon
