Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the gruesome murder of a couple — Engineer Femi Matthew Egbeoluwa and his wife, Oluwafunmilayo — in the Allen Avenue area of the state.
The couple were reportedly killed by yet-to-be-identified gunmen between last Friday night and early Saturday morning.
The killers were said to have entered the couple’s home at 1 Adefolu Drive, Allen Avenue, Lagos, before carrying out the gruesome killings.
They also reportedly attacked the couple’s housekeeper, leaving her in a pool of blood.
Meanwhile, the Lagos police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the incident.
Hundeyin said the command is currently probing the murders, although no suspect had been arrested in connection with the incident when filing this report.
He disclosed that the housekeeper, who was found unconscious, is being treated in a hospital.
“Investigation is ongoing. Policemen have visited the scene. The house help was found unconscious but she is responding to treatment now in the hospital,” the police spokesperson said.
Hundeyin added that the case has been transferred to the homicide section of the state Criminal Investigation Department, Panti, Yaba. SCID, Panti.
In a related development, a police source told Punch that officers found evidence at the murder scene.
“We learned that the police found a machete, plank of wood, one nose mask, a touch light, and one ID card at the victims’ residence,” the source said.
Eko Hot Blog learned that the police are not sparing any effort in the mission to unravel the motives behind the murders and apprehend the culprits.
Engineer Femi Egbeoluwa, a millionaire, was the Sogunro of Ilaro-Yewa in Ogun State.
He was also a former permanent secretary in the Ogun State Civil Service before his unfortunate death.
