EKO HOT BLOG reports that Abdulaziz Yari, the former Governor of Zamfara State, has emphasized that the next Senate President of the 10th National Assembly will be decided solely by the will of God.
Yari made this declaration during a visit from a group representing the South-South region in Abuja on Tuesday.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) had previously announced the selection of Godswill Akpabio, a former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, and Barau Jibrin, a Senator from Kano, as the Deputy Senate President candidates.
Speaking at the gathering, Senator-elect Yari reiterated that it is only God who determines the outcome and that no individual should engage in a power struggle for any position.
He highlighted the importance of acknowledging God’s sovereignty in the appointment of leaders, emphasizing that no one can unilaterally install or remove them.
Yari expressed,
“People should not contest with God, only God, Allah that we worship, installs a king, no other person. It is only God who en-thrones or makes the king. This is to call the attention of anyone who thinks that he can enthrone and dethrone. Those that are on the throne should remember that they were given the throne by God and that God never shifts from where He is. This is a clarion call for everyone. It is only God, it is only God’s decision that will prevail.”
The former Zamfara governor further pledged his commitment to the South-South region, particularly focusing on initiatives such as the Ogoni cleanup if he were to be elected as the Senate President. He expressed optimism that under the leadership of the current president, the Ogoni cleanup project would become a reality.
Yari remarked,
“The Ogoni cleanup is doable. I believe with the present president, it would be a reality. If Yari becomes the Senate President, we will do our best for the good of the South-South. With your prayers, God who en-thrones will put the royal cap on our head. We want to lead the national assembly for a better Nigeria.”
Former Inspector General of Police and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the South-South community in Abuja, Mike Okiro, echoed their support for Yari’s bid for the Senate Presidency. He assured Yari of their backing and stated that they would disseminate the news of their visit, expressing hopes that their prayers would be heard and Yari’s ambition blessed.
As the race for the Senate Presidency unfolds, the recognition of divine intervention in the decision-making process adds an intriguing dimension to the political landscape.
It remains to be seen how this belief will shape the forthcoming developments and influence the ultimate selection of the Senate President for the 10th National Assembly.
