The peoples Democratic Party, PDP, says President Muhammad Buhari decision to release the former National Security adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) was prompted by pressure from external figures.

Ekohotblog reports that the leading opposition said Buhari was averse to rule of law and seperation of power.

It would be recalled that the former National Security Adviser was arrested in 2015 over alleged mismanagement of $2.1 billion budgeted for arms procurement, but despite plethora of court order granting him bail he remained incarcerated.

He was, however, released on 24 December, 2019 after the Attorney General ordered their release on bail.

Fielding questions from newsmen after the congress of the Jigawa chapter of the party in dutse, Chairman of the state Congress, Dr. Umar Ardo said  that President Muhammad Buhari doesn’t have regard for  rule of law.

Ardo disclosed that 3 courts, including the West African Parliament court ordered the release of Sambo Dasuki but Buhari ignored them.

He said Dasuki regained his freedom due to the foreign pressures mounted on  the government over the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, SaharaReporters publisher.

“But because of the pressure from two senators from the United States of America who questioned him over the detention of Sowore.

“So for two senators to speak, he quickly released them because he couldn’t release him and allow Dasuki, so Sambo Dasuki benefited from it,” he stated.

“Secondly, the rule of law says the Senate must confirm a candidate before he is appointed. Was Ibrahim Magu confirmed by senators before he was appointed as acting chairman of the EFCC? So which rule of law does Buhari believe in,” Ardo questioned.
