Why FG Placed Embargo On Employment – Ngige
- Ngige, pledged to ensure that all Nigerians, including Nnewi indigenes, were given jobs when the Federal Government lifts the embargo on employment
Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, has explained that the Federal Government placed an embargo on employment into the Federal Civil Service because the economy was not in good shape.
Ngige explained that the Buhari led federal government created small jobs and empowerment programmes to fortify social safety nets and establish a social protection system.
Speaking at his Abuja residence while receiving the traditional ruler of Nnewi town, Igwe Kenneth Orizu (III), Ngige said, “The Federal Government placed an embargo on employment because the economy is not in good shape.”

He, however, stated that the federal government has Home Support Programmes like Conditional Cash Transfer and others to cushion the hard economy.
He said the money is meant for the poor in society.
