The Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has explained the reason behind his decision to sack commissioners in the state.

EKO HOT BLOG had earlier on Tuesday reported that Makinde sacked his commissioners and special advisers.

It was gathered that the governor informed the cabinet members of the development at the state executive council meeting held on Tuesday.

However, Governor, while explaining the reason behind the latest development, said the need to dissolve the executive became necessary in order to retool the cabinet.

The governor further disclosed that seventeen commissioners and the Chief of Staff (CoS) were affected.

EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Head of Service (HOS), and the Director-General of Due Process office were retained by the governor.

Speaking via a statement on Tuesday evening, the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Taiwo Adisa, said Governor Makinde expressed the gratitude of the state government to the affected cabinet members.

Adisa further noted that the governor extolled the dedication to duty and the commitment of the former commissioners.

He said, “His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Seyi Makinde, announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council, with effect from Tuesday, June 29, 2021.

“Governor Makinde, after a prolonged meeting of the Council, told members that it was time to retool after two years.

“He, therefore, wished the ex-Commissioners the best in their future endeavours,” the statement read.
