Why I Will Never Support Fubara In My Political Life Again – Wike Spits Fire
Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has unequivocally stated that he will no longer back Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in his political endeavors.
Wike made this pronouncement during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, accusing Fubara of spreading false claims that he had requested N20 billion and N100 billion from the governor.
When asked about supporting Fubara in future elections, Wike was resolute: “I will never back Fubara in my political life again. It’s not in my nature to betray my principles. Everyone knows that I stand by my word.”
The former governor of Rivers State emphasized that Fubara’s rise to power was the result of hard work and sacrifice from several individuals, including himself.
“People toiled to build the political structure that brought him to office. Without those efforts, he wouldn’t have made it. Now, he repays that by accusing me of demanding money,” Wike explained.
Expressing his frustration, Wike added, “I personally supported and guided him. Now, he’s turned against me, making baseless accusations. I didn’t expect this betrayal after everything I did to ensure his success.”
Wike also criticized Fubara for his actions during the president’s recent intervention. He accused the governor of ignoring directives, including a request to resubmit the state budget, opting instead to incite legal challenges.
“Rather than comply with the president’s request, he told people to go to court. It’s laughable.
“I’ve always stood for justice, equity, and fairness. Why should I continue to support someone who disregards these values and thrives on impunity?”
