Eko Hot Blog reports that Due to Justice Olusegun Odusola, the state’s chief judge, declining to convene a seven-person panel, the case to impeach Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the deputy governor of Ondo State, may have come to an end.
The directive initially provided to set up the panel would not be satisfied due to an ex-parte decision of an Abuja Federal High Court, the top judge revealed in a letter submitted to the Speaker of the Assembly, Olamide Oladiji.
Odusola’s stance on the matter was announced after the seven-day window for assembling the inquiry panel had passed.
The Assembly had instructed Justice Odusola to form a panel to investigate the 14 accusations made against Aiyedatiwa within seven days.
The letter was received by the Speaker, according to Oluwole Ogunmolasuyi, the majority leader of the assembly, who confirmed the situation.
He claims that the 1999 Constitution’s Section 188(10) is explicit about impeachment process which is why they are determined to adhere to due process.
