In an interview with Eko Hot Blog, Odunare explained that the initiative was born out of his observation of the treatment of boys in the Nigerian society and his concerns about the factors leading them astray.

“Female children are often celebrated and empowered, while men and boys are hardly remembered,” Odunare remarked.

He expressed his belief that by providing a safe space and empowering resources for young boys, the prevalence of negative behaviors in society could be reduced, and they could become valuable assets to themselves and the community at large.

Highlighting the importance of parental involvement, Odunare urged all parents to actively monitor their male children, paying attention to their academic progress, the company they keep, and their movements.

He emphasized that by fostering a supportive environment and guiding their development, parents could help steer young boys towards positive paths.

The Epe Boys Safe Space initiative aims to provide mentorship, educational support, and opportunities for skill development to young boys in the community.

Through workshops, seminars, and outreach programmes, the initiative seeks to equip boys with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate challenges and succeed in various aspects of life.

Odunare concluded by calling on the broader community to support initiatives like this and to recognize the importance of investing in the well-being and future of young boys.
