Why NAF Aircraft Were Deployed in Gombe During Protest – Chief of Air Staff, Hasan Abubakar
Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, the Chief of Air Staff, disclosed on Saturday the rationale behind deploying aircraft in Gombe State during the #EndBadgovernance protest.
He explained that after hoodlums hijacked the demonstration, heightened security measures became imperative.

Abubakar detailed that the aircraft conducted reconnaissance missions while the Air Force’s regiment forces collaborated with other security agencies to suppress the unrest.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that this information was conveyed in a statement released through the Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Edward Gabkwet, said Abubakar disclosed during an interaction with the Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya.

Gabkwet said, “Speaking on the wanton destruction of lives and property during the recent protest in the state, Air Marshal Abubakar stated that realising that the protest was hijacked by unscrupulous elements, the need for extra security measures became necessary.”
In response, Governor Yahaya lauded the efforts of the NAF 109 Combat Reconnaissance Group in curbing looting and theft during the protests.
Recall the nationwide #EndBadgovernance protest commenced August 1 to end 10 and has lead to violence and looting in some parts of the country especially the northern areas where hoodlums hyjacked and looted goods, destroyed properties worth millions of Naira.
