Why We Deleted Nnamdi Kanu’s Account – Facebook

  • Nnamdi Kanu made a statement  on tuesday that led to his account being banned on facebook
  • Facebook’s management eventually provided reasons for the deletion of the account.
  • IPOB Members have reacted to the new development

Social media giants, Facebook, has finally given reasons for deleting the account of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who, according to them, “repeatedly” went against their Community Standard on hate speech.

According to the spokesperson in Lagos, who issued a statement on Thursday, Facebook is a social media platform that gives people voice and not for instigating violence in the society.

In the statement issued out and signed by Dayo Akintoye, the online platform has rules and regulations that guides the usage and it is called Community Standards which stipulates the rights and wrongs but Kanu kept making posts that violate those rules.

Recall, that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu’s facebook account was removed some hours after he addressed his followers on Tuesday night, on Radio Biafra, where he explained that the ban on Open-Grazing must be enforced by Eastern Security Network, since the Eastern Governors do not have enforcement unit to make sure that the ban on movement of cows on foot gets full compliance from the herders.

According to IPOB’s Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, the action by Facebook managers in Nigeria who are colluding with Nigerian Government to suppress free flow of information is condemnable.
