EKO HOT BLOG reports that Comedian Alibaba Akpobome has shared his thoughts on why women tend to avoid politics in Nigeria. In a recent post on social media, the comedian claimed that women are reluctant to get involved in politics due to the flawed system and the need to lie to be in a position of service.

Alibaba Akpobome’s post read: “See why women run away from politics? Women don’t want to be part of a flawed system. Or lie to be in a position of service… And the few women who brave it are frustrated out.”

Actress and comedienne Lepacious Bose responded to Alibaba’s post, saying: “Am in the system and am maaaaaddd right now! So you are on point.”

Gender inequality is a prevalent issue in Nigerian politics, with women often facing significant obstacles when attempting to gain political office. Despite representing almost half of the population, women hold only a small percentage of political positions in Nigeria.

The recent general elections in Nigeria have highlighted the ongoing struggle for gender equality in the country. Women’s rights groups have been calling for more support for female candidates and greater opportunities for women to participate in politics.
