“The person on the phone mentioned my full name and referred to the message I received earlier. He sounded so convincing and professional.

I didn’t know what I was doing again. He asked me to provide the code that was sent to my phone, saying it was to unblock my account,” she recounted.

Shortly after providing the code, she began receiving multiple debit alerts. Within minutes, all the money in her account, amounting to ₦113,000, was wiped out.

“I was in shock. Before I knew it, all the money was gone. I immediately rushed to the bank to report what had happened, but no assistance was rendered. They told me there was nothing they could do because I had given out my banking details,” she lamented.

Expressing her frustration, she said, “I am a widow with four children. That money was all I had. I don’t know how I will survive now. I feel helpless.”
