- Wike predicts Amaechi will call for an election boycott on voting day
- He claims Amaechi cannot defeat the coalition in Rivers State
- Wike also questions Amaechi’s political strength in his hometown, Ubima
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has predicted that Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate’s running mate, will ask his supporters to boycott the 2027 presidential election after realising he cannot win in Rivers State.
Eko Hot Blog gathered that Wike made the prediction on Saturday while speaking at a grand reception organised in his honour in Ikwerre Local Government Area of the state.

The FCT minister claimed Amaechi would recognise early on election day that he had no realistic chance of defeating the coalition of political groups backing his camp in Rivers State.

“On election day, before 11am, Amaechi will tell his people to boycott the election because he knows there’s no way he’ll defeat us,” Wike said.
He also challenged Amaechi to demonstrate his popularity in his hometown, Ubima, suggesting that his performance at his own polling unit would be an indication of his wider electoral strength.
“If he wins his village, Ubima, then he has won the election. That’s if he will win his own polling unit,” Wike said.
Wike further criticised the level of security that previously accompanied Amaechi during his political activities in Rivers State.
According to him, Amaechi had in the past moved around with large numbers of soldiers and police officers, which he alleged were used to intimidate residents.
“No more battalions of soldiers to be with him, no more battalions of police to be with him, it’s now that we the battalion of people will come out,” Wike said.
The minister added that Amaechi would now have to rely on voters rather than security personnel to demonstrate his political influence.

“All of us are witnesses to it, he was coming like he was the Commander-in-Chief with a battalion of soldiers intimidating our people, now he will come alone,” he said.
Wike maintained that the people of Rivers State, rather than any security deployment, would determine the outcome of the 2027 election in the state.
