Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Jigawa State has responded to recent allegations made against former Jigawa State Governor and PDP founding member, Sule Lamido, by the Northern Youths Movement (NYM). The accusations were reportedly tied to an article titled “You were part of the rebellion against PDP in 2014,” which is said to have been supported by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
This claim has sparked frustration among PDP supporters in Jigawa and across the country, leading to a strong rebuttal from party leaders.
Jigawa PDP leader Muhammad Mago condemned the article, calling it a deliberate misrepresentation aimed at tarnishing Dr. Lamido’s reputation. He accused Wike of orchestrating the smear campaign to sow division within the PDP.

Mago argued that the NYM’s statement was a malicious attempt to damage Lamido’s image and criticized Wike for his alleged “draconian politics” and betrayal of the PDP. He noted that Wike’s acceptance of a ministerial role under the APC was a clear sign of his departure from PDP loyalty.
Mago emphasized Lamido’s long-standing commitment to the PDP, noting his previous tenure as Jigawa’s governor from 2007 to 2015 and his role as Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs under President Olusegun Obasanjo. He stated that Lamido remains dedicated to national interests and will not be swayed by Wike’s alleged provocations.
