EDITOR’S PICK:
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Nyesom Wike, the Governor of Rivers State, has stated that if elected President of Nigeria in 2023, he will address the country’s festering insecurity and poverty.
On Monday, he made the promise while speaking to delegates of the Peoples Democratic Party in Maiduguri.
Wike, who predicted that the PDP will win the presidential election, claimed that the APC had failed to address insecurity and economic security.
Due to the increased level of insecurity, he complained that people could no longer go to their farms or do lawful business.
“I came here today to deal with a problem.” And the problem is that Nigeria is dying, and we must prevent it from dying. This country must be rescued.
“As a Nigerian, I came as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party.” From 1998 to the present, I have never left a party. I have worked for and will continue to work for Nigeria as a political party, and I believe Nigeria has hope. So I’d want to run for President of the United States as a member of the People’s Democratic Party.
“As a country, we have no alternative place to flee to.” So I’m here to offer myself as a solution to the majority of the problems that this (APC) government has been unable to resolve.
“Previously, we only heard about instability in Borno state, but today we hear about it all over the country.” Hunger knows no Muslims or Christians, and insecurity knows no North or South,” Wike said.
The presidential candidate went on to say that only a brave leader like himself could combat the country’s uneasiness.

In response, the state PDP Chairman, Zanna Gaddama, stated that Wike’s consultative visit to Borno was to formalize his presidential ambitions.
“You should support him to get the PDP presidential ticket,” he urged.
