Actor Wilford Brimley, popularly known for his role in the movies “Cocoon” and “The Natural,” dies 85.

Brimley’s manager Lynda Bensky said the actor died Saturday morning in a Utah hospital, adding that he was on dialysis and had several medical ailments.

“Wilford Brimley was a man you could trust,” Bensky said in a statement. “He said what he meant and he meant what he said. He had a tough exterior and a tender heart. I’m sad that I will no longer get to hear my friend’s wonderful stories. He was one of a kind.”

Born in 1934 in Salt Lake Metropolis, Utah, Brimley had a movie and tv profession with scores of roles to his title. From his time within the movie and tv business, primarily within the 1970s, Brimley has taken on all kinds of roles together with Grandpa Sam Ferrans in Summertime of the Monkeys, Chief Hawkins in My Fellow Individuals and governor in The Spherical and Spherical.

From 1986 to 1988, Brimley starred as Gus Witherspoon within the household drama Our Home. He appeared on the present for 46 episodes. The actor laboured alongside Deidre Corridor, Shannen Doherty and Keri Houlihan, enjoying the household patriarch.
