Olusosun Defeats Council Team, Wins 2024 Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman’s Cup

Olusosun community (Ward F) has emerged winner of the 2024 Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman’s Cup.

Olusosun defeated the resilient Council team by 2 goals to one in a fierce final matchup on Thursday, 29th August 2024.

The Chairman’s Cup is an annual competition organised by the chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Oladotun Olakanle amongst the 6 political wards of Onigbongbo and the council team.

Olusosun (Ward F) rose to the final stage by defeating Onigbongbo Ward (Ward A) in the opening match and also defeating Opebi (Ward D) in the semi-finals both on penalties.

The Executive Chairman of Onigbongbo LCDA, Hon. Dotun Olakanle in an exclusive interview with Eko Hot Blog congratulated the winners of the competition and highlighted that the purpose of the competition is to unify all wards in the community.

Hon. Olakanle also hinted that after the Chairman’s Cup, there will be a sports activity henceforth at the end of every month.

“This is the Chairman’s Cup and it is an annual event, but other sports activities will come up at the end of every month” Hon. Olakanle said.

The Head of Department, Agric & Social Services of Onigbongbo LCDA, Mrs Modupe Leoso expressed her delight at the success of the week-long competition.

Mrs Leoso also appreciated the Chairman for initiating such a competition that has been successful in creating bonds among all the wards within the LCDA.

 

She also advised that the competition should be emulated at all levels of government as a way of unifying the country and states respectively.
