A prosecution witness, Vivian Nduka, on Monday, narrated to a Lagos State Special Offences Court how an alleged rapist, Adelaja Oloyede, confessed to using charm on his victim.
Nduka, a police officer, told the court that the victim reported that the alleged rape occurred when she was returning from church on December 10, 2017, Punch reports.
The witness, while being led in evidence by the prosecutor, K. A. Ayankanbi, said the defendant told her upon interrogation that Oloyede had an unlawful carnal knowledge of her, adding that he charmed the victim after exchanging a handshake with her.
“Oloyede told me that he had carnal knowledge of her and that the complainant told him that she was a virgin and he said he wanted to confirm; so, he led her into his apartment, administered some fetish substances on her following which he had sex with her and later gave her N1,500 to go and take care of herself,” Nduka stated.

However, during cross-examination by the defendant’s counsel, C. J. Jiakpona, the witness maintained that Oloyede said he had carnal knowledge of the victim.
She quoted the defendant as writing in his statement, “I started smooching her and she told me that she was a virgin; I told her that I knew and I took her into my room and had carnal knowledge of her. I actually deceived her into my room.”
She, however, added that she did not collect the victim’s underwear for forensic analysis, neither did she have any document backing the exhibits presented before the court.
The presiding judge, Justice Abiola Soladoye, adjourned the matter till March 19, 2020, for the continuation of trial.
