Women Affairs Leaders Say No to SGBV, Drug Abuse

Heads of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) Departments in Lagos State’s LG/LCDAs has organized a Sensitisation Awareness Walk to combat Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) and Drug Abuse.

The event, held in Ikeja Local Government Area, aimed to raise awareness and promote collective action against these social ills.

With the theme “SGBV? Not On My Watch!”, the walk brought together community members, leaders, and stakeholders to address the pervasive issues of SGBV and drug abuse.

The event emphasized the importance of reporting cases, supporting survivors, and advocating for prevention.

Speakers at the event highlighted the devastating impact of SGBV on individuals, families, and communities, emphasizing the need for a collective effort to end the menace.

They stressed that SGBV affects not only women and children but also men, and that engaging men in prevention efforts is crucial.

The walk also addressed drug abuse, with speakers urging parents to educate their children about the dangers of drug use and the importance of seeking help when needed.

The event demonstrated the power of community-led efforts in creating a safer, more supportive environment for all.

Through this initiative, the Heads of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation Departments have shown their commitment to empowering communities and promoting a culture of zero tolerance for SGBV and drug abuse.
