Women from the Ipo community blocked the entrance to Port Harcourt airport, stranding passengers and causing traffic congestion in a protest demanding citizens’ rights.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Women from the Ipo community in Rivers State blocked the entrance of the Port Harcourt airport on Tuesday, leaving several passengers stranded.
The women, who arrived at the airport as early as 7:30 AM, blocked the gate at the airport roundabout, waving placards, singing, wailing, and even cooking at the gate.

Some of the inscriptions on the placards and banners included “We Demand Our Citizens’ Rights” and “Ipo Women Peaceful Protest.”
The protest also caused significant traffic congestion on roads near the airport.
This online media platform understands that Tuesday’s protest is the second such event within the past six months.

It took the intervention of the former Chairman of the Rivers Traditional Rulers Council, Sergeant Awuse to pacify the women during the previous protest which occurred on 27th of March this year.
