Eko Hot Blog reports that the association, which comprises all manner of youths in the community, defied the downpour to ensure the selected areas were cleaned up.
This news medium reports that the exercise was successfully embarked upon in partnership with Epe Local Government, National Youth Council of Nigeria Epe Branch, Youth Movement for Progressive Change, Green Janitors and Lagos State House of Assembly Epe Constituency I Aspirant under the All Progressives Congress, Hon Kamaldeen Olaide Lawal.
Speaking in an interview with Eko Hot Blog, the DG of LEYOSA, Hon Kadri Dolapo Abiola aka Morgan, expressed deep concerns over the turnout of youths for the exercise while also noting that the immense support from the few who volunteered for the exercise was commendable.
“I’m overwhelmed by the solidarity expressed by the youths to carry out this cleanup exercise despite the rain. We hoped to succeed in this exercise and with the little we’ve done today, it’s a bold statement to the world and I’m proud of everyone’s efforts”
“However, our youths need to do more in charitable acts of this kind because it builds the spirit of selfless service to the community while also improving on the culture of environmental sanitation”
“A clean environment goes a long way to promote good health, peace, socio-economic development of the people. This is why our association has partnered with other stakeholders to support the THEMES agenda of our amiable Governor, Jide Sanwo-Olu,” he said.
Morgan revealed that the bold step to embark on the cleanup exercise was exciting as he said he was marvelled at the show of solidarity from tenants and landlords resident in the Kolawole area of Erepoto Epe and also traders at Pobo Market, Poka, Eredo LCDA, who actively participated.
He noted that he was grateful to the Local Government Chairman for making the Waste Truck available. This, he said, was strategically deployed to convey the refuse gathered from the cleanup in the neighbourhood.
“I must appreciate the support of our Chairman, Princess Surah Animashaun who ensured that the Waste Truck is available. If not, we would have forfeited the exercise. More interesting was the fact that it provided the residents with the opportunity to empty their waste bags,” he said.
