Eko Hot Blog reports that Mexico, on the other hand, crashed out in the group stages.
Second-half goals from Alexis Mac Allister and Julian Alvarez were enough for Argentina to beat Poland, who also advanced as Group C runners-up despite the defeat.
The 2-0 win came for Argentina despite their star man Lionel Messi missing a first-half penalty.
While Argentina will face Australia in the Round of 16, Poland got a difficult tie against France, the defending champions, for finishing second in the group.
Meanwhile, Mexico’s 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia was not enough for the north Americans to progress to the knockout stages.
Although the Mexicans were level with Poland on points, they crashed out on goal difference.
Mexico were leading 2-0 into stoppage time courtesy of goals from Henry Martín and Luis Chávez, but the Saudi Arabians had the last say with a 95th minute goal by Salem Al-Dawsari that effectively sent the Mexicans home.
It is the first time Mexico will not feature in the World Cup knockout stage since 1990, when they were banned from the tournament. The last time they qualified for the tournament and failed to make it out of the group stage was in 1978.
