Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Obafemi Hamzat, underscored the significance of the annual event as a call to action for Nigerians to come together and care for the loved ones left behind by fallen heroes.

Emphasizing the critical role that the armed forces play in maintaining national security and stability, the governor’s message serves as a reminder of the enduring debt of gratitude owed to those who have given their lives in service to their country.

He said, “Every year we do this in honour of our fallen heroes. We all know they sacrifice their lives so that we can stay in peace. In essence, the process is for Nigerians to contribute to the needs of those they left behind. Besides it is not too much if the privileged ones among us care for the children they left behind.
