EKO HOT BLOG reports on Ijeoma Josephina Otabor, also known as Phyna, the winner of Big Brother Naija season 7 ‘Level Up’ show, revealing some bits on her experience dating a “Yahoo boy,” who never gave her any money.
The reality TV star made the disclosure during an audio-video podcast titled ‘The Honest Bunch,’ hosted by On Air Personality with Wazobia FM, Nedu.

During the podcast, Phyna was asked if she could date a guy who did not have money, to which she responded, “I will be 26 this year. I have dated and been in relationships.
If you check my life well, there was never a time when life was good for me and I had a boyfriend. In fact, once upon a time, my longest relationship was with a Yahoo boy. Trust me, he never gave me a dime. All he did was, you know Yahoo boys, go to the club and spray money.”
She further revealed that most Yahoo boys do not give their girlfriends money, and the girls stay in the relationship because of their boyfriends’ wealth.
According to Phyna,
“The majority of Yahoo boys don’t give their girlfriends money, and the girl will be there not because she is getting but because ‘he has money.’ They go to the club and spray money; ‘Oluwa dollar,’ ‘Oluwa billion,’ that title. The car, front seat. See, it’s not a lie, if there are 100 Yahoo boys in Nigeria, 90 do not give their babe money.”
Phyna’s revelation is coming amidst the ongoing crackdown on Internet fraudsters, popularly known as Yahoo boys, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The EFCC has been waging a sustained war against cybercrime and financial fraud in the country, arresting and prosecuting those involved in these illegal activities.
The issue of Yahoo boys and their activities has been a topic of concern in Nigeria, with many blaming the government for the lack of opportunities and employment for the youths, which has pushed them into cybercrime.
However, the government has repeatedly stated that cybercrime is illegal and anyone found involved in it will face the full wrath of the law.
Phyna’s revelation has generated mixed reactions on social media, with some people applauding her for her honesty, while others criticized her for dating a Yahoo boy in the first place.
