The Lagos State Police Command has on Thursday reacted to reports that a Yoruba group, Yoruba Appraisal is mobilizing for a mega rally in the state on Friday.
Reacting, the Lagos State Police Command has said it is currently on red alert to ensure that the planned rally in the state by Yoruba Appraisal Forum does not hold.
The police command, in a statement issued and made available to newsmen on Thursday evening, urged parents to warn their children and ward against participating in such activities which may portend danger in the state.
The statement titled, ‘Re: Yoruba Appraisal Forum’s Rally: Police Ban Rally, Warn Organizers To Steer Clear Of Lagos’ was issued by the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi.
The statement partly reads, “The Command strongly warns against any rally or mass gathering in any part of Lagos State, as such will be tantamount to jeopardising the security system of the state at this moment and expose the participants of the proposed rally and innocent people of Lagos State to avoidable security infraction, traffic problem, health hazard and other social/economic vices.
