Yoruba Nation: 60 Million Yoruba Ready To Leave Nigeria – Akintoye Declares
Prof. Banji Akintoye, leader of the Yoruba Self-Determination Movement, has vowed not to give up on the movement’s pursuit of a Yoruba nation.
According to Akintoye, approximately 60 million Yoruba people, both in Nigeria and the diaspora, support the establishment of a sovereign Yoruba country.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an interview with The PUNCH on Monday, Akintoye reaffirmed the movement’s stance, stating, “We are not going back. We must leave Nigeria, or our nation will perish.”
He emphasized that the Yoruba people demand an independent country, adding, “If others want to remain in Nigeria, that is their choice.”
Akintoye also discussed the letters sent to both the UK and Nigerian governments regarding the movement’s agitation. He revealed that the UK government had acknowledged receipt of their letter, although it is being handled at a slow pace.
Similarly, he mentioned that the Nigerian government is aware of the letter and expressed that it is causing some unrest, but emphasized their peaceful approach in seeking self-determination.
