EKO HOT BLOG reports that in an interview with The PUNCH on Monday, Akintoye reaffirmed the movement’s stance, stating, “We are not going back. We must leave Nigeria, or our nation will perish.”
He emphasized that the Yoruba people demand an independent country, adding, “If others want to remain in Nigeria, that is their choice.”
Akintoye also discussed the letters sent to both the UK and Nigerian governments regarding the movement’s agitation. He revealed that the UK government had acknowledged receipt of their letter, although it is being handled at a slow pace.
Similarly, he mentioned that the Nigerian government is aware of the letter and expressed that it is causing some unrest, but emphasized their peaceful approach in seeking self-determination.
