The Yoruba Obas Forum has declared its full support for the establishment of the Western Nigeria Security Network, code-name Amotekun.
The Forum gave its support at the end of an executive meeting held in Ibadan on Wednesday to review the state of the nation.
In a communique signed by the president of the Forum, HRM Oba Adeoye Samuel, Edema 1, The malokun of Atijere and the national Public Relations Officer, HRM Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe, The Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, the Forum pledged all necessary assistance to make the initiative work for the benefit of the South West region and Nigeria in general.

“The Yoruba Obas Forum is extremely worried by the spate of increased insecurity in the nation, especially the level of kidnapping and armed robbery. The Forum recognises inadequacies security agencies contend with, especially the Nigeria Police Force. The Forum therefore welcomes any other alternate security arrangement such as Amotekun, which can support the efforts of the police and other security agencies.
“We as the owners of the land, are in full support of our governors and have pledged all necessary assistance to make the make the initiative work for the benefit of the South West region and Nigeria in general”, the statement reads.
The Forum also assured that the establishment of the security outfit was not to create the Oduduwa Republic, though they are descendants of Oduduwa, maintaining that all it deserves are security, peace and justice which are the foundation for the growth of the country and all Nigerians.
