Ekohotblog reports that the Yoruba Obas Forum recently paid a courtesy visit to the Aladeshonyin Palace in Odo-Noforija, Eredo LCDA, Epe Division.
The visitation, hosted by H.R.M. (Alaiyeluwa) Oba (Dr.) Babatunde Olaogun Ogunlaja, Kalejaiye II, focused on fostering unity, mutual support, and progress among Yoruba traditional rulers.
In his welcome address, Oba Ogunlaja highlighted the pivotal role of traditional rulers in preserving Yoruba cultural heritage and called for collective efforts to ensure the prosperity of Yoruba land.
“The Yoruba proverb says, ‘Agbajo owo ni a fi n so aya’—unity is strength. As royal fathers, we must come together to protect our traditions, uplift our communities, and inspire confidence in our people,” he stated.
Oba Ogunlaja stressed that unity among royal fathers could strengthen cultural heritage, attract development, and promote peace. He explained that unity is not merely ceremonial but a powerful tool to drive the advancement of Yoruba land and its people.
“When we speak with one voice, we can achieve more. Together, we can preserve our culture, address challenges, and create a future that reflects the greatness of our past,” he noted.
The Aladeshonyin further emphasized the need for mutual support among royal fathers.
“Leadership is not easy, and no one can do it alone. By supporting one another, we can ensure the collective well-being of our people,” he said.
He also called for collaboration in addressing critical issues such as security, education, and economic development.
“Our role as custodians of Yoruba heritage goes beyond the ceremonial. We must lead efforts to advance the welfare of our people, especially in education and economic empowerment,” Oba Ogunlaja added.
He concluded with a passionate call to action for unity, mutual respect, and progress among Yoruba Obas.
“The world is watching us, and our people, both at home and abroad, look to us for leadership and inspiration. Let us rise to the occasion and fulfill our responsibilities with courage, wisdom, and unity,” Oba Ogunlaja declared.
