Yoruba Obas Forum Visits Ojora of Ijora in Lagos
Ekohotblog reports that the Yoruba Obas Forum, a group of traditional rulers from Yoruba-speaking states, visited the Ojora of Ijora, His Royal Majesty Oba Fatai Aromire, at his palace in Lagos yesterday, 28th November 2024.
The visit was part of the forum’s efforts to bring Yoruba kings together to promote unity, peace, and the preservation of Yoruba culture.
Speaking during the visit, the president of the forum, Oba Dr. Samuel Adeoye, the Molokun of Atijere in Ondo State, explained the purpose of the group. He said:
“The Yoruba Obas Forum was created to strengthen bonds among all Yoruba kings. We intend to work together to solve problems and protect our traditions and values.”
Oba Ganiyu Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu, added that the forum is only for kings from Yoruba-speaking areas. He said:
“Our goal is to bring peace and cooperation among Yoruba rulers and to promote our traditions and customs.”
During the visit, Oba Aderibigbe praised Oba Fatai Aromire for his dedication to preserving Yoruba culture.
He also mentioned other Lagos monarchs, including the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabir Adewale Shotobi, and others for their efforts in keeping Yoruba traditions alive.
In his response, Oba Fatai Aromire thanked the forum for their visit and encouraged all Yoruba leaders to work together for the good of their people. He said:
“It is a joy to host this group of Yoruba kings. We must continue to work as one to protect our culture and bring progress to our land.”
The Ojora of Ijora also prayed for peace, prosperity, and unity among Yoruba people, urging everyone to stay true to their heritage.
“May the Yoruba people continue to grow in peace and strength,” he prayed.
The visit ended with joint prayers for Yoruba unity and progress. The forum also promised to keep reaching out to more Yoruba kings to build stronger ties.
“We call on all Yoruba people to value our culture and pass it on to the next generation,” said Oba Dr. Samuel Adeoye.
