EKO HOT BLOG reports on the bad blood that seems to be taking shape between 2 celebrities in the Nigerian scene as Peter Okoye comes hard on Seun Kuti.
The Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, took to social media to criticize fellow musician Seun Kuti over political support in the 2023 elections.
The argument started after Seun referred to the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, as an opportunist, which led to Peter Okoye coming to Obi’s defence.
This sparked a back-and-forth between the two musicians, which resulted in Peter Okoye claiming that Seun Kuti is irrelevant without his father’s name, the late Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti.
In a series of posts on his Twitter account, Peter Okoye stated that he and his twin brother, as part of the musical group PSQUARE, have never campaigned for any presidential candidates before now, except for Peter Obi. He went on to say that while his own father was a nobody, everyone now knows the Okoye name.
Peter Okoye also accused Seun Kuti of having no music career and relying solely on his family background to make a name for himself. He concluded by saying that Seun should remain in his local shrine while others, like himself, continue to excel globally.
”We PSQUARE have never campaigned for any Presidential candidates before now except for PETER OBI. Did we perform for President Buhari during his inauguration in 2015 YES. He was already the President! GO AND VERIFY.
”My late Father was a nobody, but today everyone knows the OKOYES. Dude, try removing “KUTI” from your name let me see if you are relevant.
”Remain in that your Local SHRINE while people like us and others continue excelling Globally. YOU CAN’T SHAME THE SHAMELESS. You had no music career in the first place. All you do is brag about your family background.”
