You Cannot Win Imo Through Lies And Intimidation – Imolite Tells Uzodinma
Ekohotblog, October 1st, 2020
An Imo based social commenter and evangelist, Bro. Obinna Akuwudike have called on the Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, to refrain from running a government of lies and intimidation, as this will not win him the support of the people of Imo State.
Akuwudike while speaking to our correspondent, expressed concern over the treatment of pensioners in Imo State, and the claims by government to have paid pensioners when such reports were untrue.
“I know so many pensioners who have called me to lament the nonpayment of their entitlements,” Akuwudike said.
“I was disappointed when I read a supposed revered religious leader, playing devil’s advocate for the government over this pension issue. How can such a highly revered man come out to claim that government have paid all pensioners in Imo State, when in truth, those paid are those below the salary scale of level 8 whereas those higher have not been paid. He should have confirmed properly before coming to the public with this rather than listening to those he claimed called him, who might be paid agents sent to deceive him.
“Our problems in this state, started from that same avenue if we will tell ourselves the truth. In Igbo land we say, if a leader does wrong, we wear a basket and tell them the truth. We should learn to tell the truth to our leaders. They are human and as such fallible.
“Senator Hope Uzodinma must stand by the truth in his government if he must succeed. You cannot govern with lies and expect the people to love you. His aides must stop telling lies to the people. You cannot be claiming that pensioners have been paid, when the reality on ground begs to differ. You lose the trust of the people.

“Remembering how you came into power, you should try to build trust, and when the people keep seeing what they deem to be lies from You, how do you want that trust.
Akuwudike also reacted to the ACJ law, which supposedly gives the Govenror, power to detain at will.
“This isn’t time to be looking for how to detain Imo people. Senator Hope Uzodinma should be thinking of trying to win over the people, instead of looking for ways to intimidate them. Such laws are only targeted at intimidating the people to silence.
“Leaders should realize that it’s only 4 years, maximum 8 and they cannot tell what tomorrow holds. Those laws they want to use to intimidate people today, will be used on them tomorrow.
