‘You Must Do More To End Insecurity’ – Buhari Tackles Security Agencies Over Death Of APC Chairman
President Muhammadu Buhari says security agencies have not done enough to tackle the growing insecurity and violence in the country.
The president said this in reaction to the killing of Philip Shekwo, chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Nasarawa state.
Shekwo was abducted from his residence in Lafia, the state capital, on Saturday night and was found dead on Sunday.
In a statement on Sunday, Garba Shehu, presidential spokesman, quoted Buhari as saying the late chairman’s contribution towards strengthening the party would not be forgotten
The president said investigation into the killing would reveal if it “was an assassination or kidnapping-related murder.”
He said security agencies must do more to put an end to acts of violence.
“I strongly condemn the killing of Philip Shekwo. He was kind and jovial,” Buhari was quoted to have said.
“His contribution towards strengthening the party in Nasarawa State will not be forgotten. May his soul Rest in Peace.”
